1. Placethefootonthemixerwithoutthecenteranchor.  
CongratulationsonpurchasingtheGeminiUMX-7VCAmixer. Thisstate  
oftheartmixerisbackedbyathreeyearwarranty,excludingcrossfader  
andchannelslides.Priortouse,wesuggestthatyoucarefullyreadallthe  
instructions.  
2. Replacethecenteranchorandpushdownonittoanchorthefootto  
themixer.  
WithVCAtechnology,audioisprocessedinavoltage-controlledamplifier  
(VCA)removingitfromthecrossfaderandchannelslidesgivingthem  
extendedlifeandreducingtravelnoise.Thecrossfaderandchannelslides  
regulatetheDCvoltagethatcontrolstheVCAcircuit.Additional  
advantagesofVCAtechnologyincludetheabilitytoprovideprecisecurve  
adjustmentsforthecrossfaderandchannelslideswithoutsacrificingaudio  
quality.Foradditionalinformation,refertothediagramsonPage3for  
crossfaderadjustmentandchannelslidecurve.  
Connections  
1. MakesurethatthePOWER(1)switchisintheoffposition.Thisunit  
comessuppliedwitha18voltACadaptor.Plugtheadaptorintothe  
rearpanelpowerjack. Thenplugtheadaptorintoaproperpower  
source.  
2. TheUMX-7issuppliedwith4setsofoutputjacks. TheBALANCED  
MASTER OUTPUT (4) jacks are used to connect to your main  
amplifierusingstandardcableswith1/4connectors. Werecommend  
usingthebalancedampoutputsifthecablestoyourampare25feetor  
more. BALANCED MASTER OUTPUTS have three separate  
conductors,twoofwhicharesignal(positiveandnegative)andone  
shield(ground).Thebalancedlineusesatip-ring-sleeveconnection.  
Tip=hotorpositive(+),ring=coldornegative(-),andsleeve=  
shield/ground. The MASTER OUTPUT (5) jacks are unbalanced and  
usedtoconnecttoyourmainamplifier. TheRECOUTPUT(7)jacks  
canbeusedtoconnectthemixertotherecordinputofyourrecorder  
enablingyoutorecordyourmix. TheZONEOUTPUT(6) jacksallow  
youtohookupanadditionalamplifier.

4. Ontherearpanelare3stereoPHONO/LINE(9, 12, 13)inputsand1  
stereoLINE (8) input. The PHONO/LINE SWITCH (10) enables you to  
set the (9) input to Phono or Line. ThePHONO/LINE SWITCH (11)  
enablesyoutosetthe(12)inputtoPhonoorLine. ThePHONO/LINE  
SWITCH(15)enablesyoutosetthe(13)inputtoPhonoorLine. The  
phonoinputswillacceptonlyturntableswithamagneticcartridge.  
GROUND SCREWS (2) for you to ground your turntables are located  
ontherearpanel.Thestereolineinputswillacceptanylinelevelinput  
suchasaCDplayer,acassetteplayer,etc.

Operation  
4. Thisunitshouldbecleanedonlywithadampcloth.Avoidsolventsor

1. POWER ON: Once you have made all the equipment connections to  
yourmixer, pressthePOWER(1)switch.  
5. Whenmovingthisequipment,itshouldbeplacedinitsoriginalcarton  
andpackaging.Thiswillreducetheriskofdamageduringtransit.  
2. CHANNEL 1: The GAIN (17), HIGH (20), MID (23), LOW (26), and  
PAN(29)controlsallowyoutofullyadjusttheselectedsource.Switch  
#(31)allowsyoutoselecttheLINE1/PHONO1(13)ortheLINE2/  
PHONO 2 (12) input. The CHANNEL SLIDE (38)controls the input  
levelofthischannel.  
6. DO NOT EXPOSE THIS UNIT TO RAIN OR MOISTURE.

WhenusingaUMXmixerwithprofessionalturntables, such  
astheGeminiPTSeries,youcanmakethemixerlevelwith  
theturntablebyremovingthemixer’sfeet.  
4. TONE CONTROLS: There is Low, Mid and High equalization for each  
channelwithanextremelywiderangeofadjustment. SUGGESTION:  
YoucanusetheCutFeaturesoneachchanneltoremoveLow, Mid  
and/orHightocreatespecialeffects.  
1. Placeasmallscrewdriverunderthefoot’scenteranchor.  
2. Gentlyprythecenteranchorupandthefootwillcomeoff.  
5. INPUT ASSIGN SWITCHES: You can adjust the position of the INPUT  
ASSIGN(31, 32)switchestomovelefttoright, upanddownORata  
45degreeangle. MaketheseadjustmentswiththepowerOFF.

1) Removethechannelslide, crossfaderknobsandthe4screwsfrom  
thesidesofthelowerfaceplate.Thenremovethelowerfaceplate.  
heardinoneearphoneandCHANNEL2willbeheardintheother  
earphone.WhiletheCUEASSIGN (27)isintheleftorrightpositions  
(the CHANNEL 1 and CHANNEL 2 combinations), move the CUE  
FADER(36)tothelefttoisolateCHANNEL1andtotherighttoisolate  
CHANNEL2. Movethe CUEFADER(36)tothecentertolistentoboth  
channelstogether(splitorinstereo).  
2) Removethe2screwsinthecornersoftheassignswitchplate.  
Rotatetheswitchplatetothedesiredposition,replacethescrews  
andtightendown.  
3) Topositiontheswitchata45degreeangle,youneedtoreposition  
theswitchontheassignswitchplate.First,removethe2screwsin  
thecornersoftheassignswitchplate.Then,lifttheswitchplateup  
andremovethe2smallerscrewsnexttotheswitch.Rotatethe  
switchplatetotherightuntilthe45degreeholesalignwiththe  
switchholes,replacethescrewsandtightendown.Replacethe  
switchplateandtightendown.  
11. DISPLAY:Thepeakhold, dualfunctionDISPLAY(35)indicateseither  
theMASTERoutputleftandrightlevelsorthechannel1andchannel  
2levels. YoucanchoosetheoptionyouwantbypressingtheDISPLAY  
(34)button.  
NOTE:WhentheDISPLAY(35)isinthechannel1/channel2display  
mode,byadjustingtheindividualchannelgainandtonecontrols,youcan  
increaseordecreasethesignaltomatchtheotherchannel’ssignal.The

7. CROSSFADER SECTION: The CROSSFADER (41) allows the mixing  
ofonesourceintoanother. TheleftsideoftheCROSSFADER(41)is  
CHANNEL 1 and the right side is CHANNEL 2. The CROSSFADER  
CURVE(28)controlallowsyoutoadjustthekindofcurvethe  
crossfader has. Move theCROSSFADER CURVE (28) control to the  
righttomakethecurvesteepandcutting(perfectforscratching).Move  
theCROSSFADERCURVE(28)controltothelefttomakethecurve  
gradual and gentle. The CROSSFADER REVERSE SWITCH (33)

ausgenommen Crossfader und Kanalfader. Vor Anwendung dieses  
MischpultsbittealleAnweisungensorgfältigdurchlesen.  
2. DenmittlerenStifteinsetzen undfesteindrücken,umdenFußim  
Mixerzuverankern.  
MitderVCA-TechnologiewirddasAudiosignalineinem  
Anschlüsse  
spannungsreguliertenVerstärker(VoltageControlledAmplifier)bearbeitet  
undnichtüberCross-oderKanalfadergeführt,waszueinererhöhten  
LebensdauerundgeringerenFadergeräuschenführt. DieCross-und  
KanalfaderreguliereneineGleichstromspannung, diewiederumdieVCA-  
Schaltungsteuert.EinweitererVorteilderVCA-Technologieistdie  
MöglichkeitzurpräzisenKurvensteuerungvonCross-undKanalfadern

2. DerUMX-7verfügtüber4Ausgangsbuchsenpaare. DieBuchsen  
BALANCED MASTER OUTPUT (4) dienen zum Anschluß an den  
Hauptverstärker, wofürStandard6,3mm-Stereo-Klinken-Kabelbenutzt  
werden. Wirempfehlen, diesymmetrischenMaster-Ausgängezu  
benutzen, wenndieKabelzuIhremVerstärker3moderlängersind.  
SymmetrischeAusgängehabendrei(3)verschiedeneLeiter:zweifür  
Signal(positivundnegativ)und einenfürMasse.Diesymmetrische  
LeitungbenutzteineSpitzen-Ring-Muffen-Verbindung.Spitze=heiß  
bzw. plus(+), Ring=kaltbzw. minus(-)undMuffe=Abschirmung/  
Masse. Die Buchsen (MASTER OUTPUT ) sind unsymmetrisch und  
dienenzumAnschlußaneinenHauptverstärkerohnesymmetrischen  
Eingang. Die Buchsen REC OUTPUT (7) können dazu dienen, das  
Mischpult an den Aufnahmeeingang des Aufnahmegerätes

auf. Die Buchse für den MIC-EFFEKTWEG (14) dient als Ausgang und

Tonhöhen-Controller,Echo/Hall-Gerät,usw....),wobeiein  
symmetrischesStereo-Klinken-Kabelmit6,3mmmmSpitze/Ring/  
Steckverbindung(Spitze=Eingang, Ring=AusgangundMuffe=  
Masse)verwendetwird.

Bedienung  
1. NETZ EINSCHALTEN : Nachdem Sie alle Tonquellen am Mischpult  
angeschlossenhaben, drückenSieaufdieTastePOWER(1).  
Höhenjustierung  
2. KANAL 1: Die Regelelemente GAIN (17), HIGH (20), MID (23), LOW  
(26), undPAN(29)(Balance)ermöglicheneinvollkommenes  
RegulierenderausgewähltenTonquelle.Schalter(31)ermöglicht,den  
Eingang von LINE 1/PHONO 1 (13) oder LINE 2/PHONO 2 (12)  
auszuwählen. CHANNEL SLIDE (38) regelt den Ausgangspegel dieses  
Kanals.  
Wenn man einen UMX Mixer zusammen mit professionellen  
PlattenspielernwieGeminiPTSerie benutzenmöchte, kann  
mandiegleicheGerätehöhederPlattenspielererreichen,  
indemmandieFüßedesMixersentfernt.
