SETTING THE TIME  
Press and hold the TIME/SET button and then:  
PLAYING MESSAGES  
The m essages light (on the PLAY/STOP button) flashes when a m essage has been  
left on the answerer. When the answerer has recorded m ultiple m essages, the  
m essages light flashes once for each m essage, pauses, and then repeats.

screw with a Phillips screwdriver.  
Incom ing m essages  
Was an extension phone picked up?  
Provide you with a new or, at our option, a refurbished unit.  
To go back to the beginning of a previous m essage: repeatedly press and  
are incom plete  
The caller left a m essage that is longer than the  
m essage length you set on the back of the  
answerer. Try setting m essage length to MAX.  
The exchange unit is under warranty for the rem ainder of the original products warranty  
period.

2. Connect a fresh 9-volt alkaline battery and  
place it inside the battery com partm ent.  
How to m ake a w arranty claim :  
To skip to the beginning of the next m essage: press and release SKIP.  
To check the tim e/day setting, press and release the TIME/SET button (the answerer  
announces the day, hour, and m inute).  
Properly pack your unit. Include any cables, etc., which were originally provided with the  
product. We recom m end using the original carton and packing m aterials.  
Mem ory is full.  
To erase a m essage w hile it is playing: press and release the ERASE button.  
3. Replace the battery com partm ent cover and  
replace phillips-head screw.  
The answerer beeps to confirm the m essage has been erased.  
You accidentally pressed PLAY/STOP when  
you were playing the m essages.  
Include in the package evidence of purchase date such as the bill of sale. Also print your

When the answerer isnt playing or recording m essages, press and hold ERASE  
until you hear a beep. You can retrieve m essages erased this way by pressing  
PLAY/STOP— but only if the answerer hasn't recorded new m essages after you  
erased the m essages.  
Note: The BATTERY LOW indicator flashes  
when you need to change the battery or if you  
havent installed the battery. When you are  
replacing the 9-volt battery, disconnect the  
telephone cord before you install the battery.

SETTING THE SECURITY CODE  
To pick up your m essages from another location (called rem ote access), you m ust  
enter a 3-digit security code. The default code is 123, but you can change it.

Pay any charges billed to you by the Exchange Center for service not covered by the

To change the code: Press and hold the TIME/SET button while you press and  
hold the CODE button. Release TIME/SET and CODE buttons after you hear the  
code you want to use.  
MEMORY FULL

Unplug power cord from the back of the unit  
and plug it back in to reset the answerer.  
A new or refurbished unit will be shipped to you prepaid freight.  
When the m em ory is full, the m essages light flashes rapidly and the unit answers  
after 10 rings. When calling your m achine from another phone (called Rem ote  
Access) enter the 3-digit security code after you hear the beep and play your  
m essages. In order for your m achine to record new m essages, you m ust erase  
som e of the m essages. You can erase m essages rem otely by pressing 0 while a  
m essage is playing.  
What your w arranty does not cover:

answer calls after 2 rings, 4 rings, or choose TS (toll saver). Toll saver m eans you

doesnt pick up after the second ring, you can hang up and avoid the toll charge.

TURNING THE ANSWERER ON AND OFF

When you set up your answerer, the unit turns on autom atically and the m essages  
light on the PLAY/STOP button lights. To turn the answerer off, press the ON/OFF  
button. When the answerer is off, it answers calls after 10 rings but doesn't play the  
outgoing announcem ent. The answerer doesn't take m essages when it is off.  
Product Registration:  
Power has been interrupted without 9-volt  
battery backup. Set tim e and day inform ation.  
Please com plete and m ail the Product Registration Card packed with your unit. It will m ake  
it easier to contact you should it ever be necessary. The return of the card is not required  
for warranty coverage.  
SETTING THE INCOMING MESSAGE LENGTH  
Use the selector on the back of the unit to lim it the tim e a caller has to leave a  
m essage by choosing 1 MIN or 2 MIN. Set the selector to MAX if you want to give  
callers the m axim um am ount of tim e to leave a m essage. The tim e allowed for  
MAX varies depending on how m uch digital m em ory tim e has been used for your  
announcem ent and other m essages stored in the answerer's m em ory.  
LEAVING A MEMO  
Press and hold the MEMO button. Leave your m essage after the beep. Release the  
MEMO button when you're finished talking.  
How state law relates to this w arranty:

the answerer. Plug the other end into an AC  
power outlet.

SCREENING CALLS (AUTO DISCONNECT FEATURE)  
Since your answerer autom atically stops recording when an extension phone is  
picked up, you can screen incom ing calls by listening as the caller leaves a m es-  
sage and then picking up the phone when you know who it is.  
This warranty does not apply. Contact your dealer for warranty inform ation.

unit has warm ed up (approxim ately 40  
seconds) before you proceed with setup.  
Attach your sales receipt to the booklet for future reference or jot down the date this product
