AC POWER CONNECTION  
Connect one endof theAC cord tothe ACINPUT socket (27)on the backof  
the unit, thenconnect other endto the walloutlet. The unitis now readyto  
operate byAC power supply.  
Disconnect ACcord from walloutlet when theunit is notin use.

1. Open thebattery compartment cover.  
2. Insert 8pcs. D R20 UM-1x8 or typebatteries into batterycompartment.  
Be sure toinsert battery spolarity as shownin the diagramengraved on  
the battery compartment.

AM-This unit hasa built-in ferriterod antenna, whicheliminates the needfor an  
external antenna, andprovides adequate receiptin most areas. If reception isweak,  
turn the unitto improve receipt.

FM- The telescopicantenna on thetop of theunit is forFM reception only. If reception  
is weak, adjustthe length andthe angle ofthe antenna.  
LISTENING TO RADIO STATION  
1. Set FUNCTIONselector to (1)RADIO position.  
2. Set BANDselector (6) tothe AMor FM /FM ST. Position.  
3. Tunea desired stationby tuning theTUNING control(7).  
4. AdjustVOLUME control (14)to suit yourpersonal listening preference.  
5. To switch theradio off, setthe FUNCTION selector(1) to TAPE position.

2. Lift upthe cassette knob, then press STOP/EJECTbutton to openthe cassette compartment.  
3. Insert arecorder cassette tapein the cassettecompartment with exposedside facing up.  
4. Press PLAY button tobegin playback.  
5. To stop thetape, press STOP/EJECTbutton.  
6. To advance orrewind the taperapidly, pressthe Fast Forward  
buttons. To resume normalplayback press theCassette Play  
7. To pause temporarilyduring playback, pressthe Cassette Pause  
or Rewind  
button

PLAYINGA DISC  
Press Pause againto cancel thepause mode andresume playback.  
This unit is capable of playing standard CDs or 3 single discs: no adapter is required.  
1. Set FUNCTION selector to CD position.  
2. Pull the CD door to open the CD compartment.  
TO RECORD CASSETTE TAPE  
3. Insert a CD disc to the CD compartment.  
4. Close the CD compartment. The total number of tracks will be displayed and the CD  
player will stop. If a disc is inserted incorrectly, dirty, damaged or not present at all,  
the CD display will show - and the CD player will stop.  
Your equipment is ableto record yourdesired sound sourceeither from compactdisc  
player or radioon a cassettetape.  
5. Press PLAY/PAUSE  
6. Press STOP button to stop.  
7. Press : REPEAT button for repeat play.

2. Insert blankcassette tape inthe cassette compartmentwith exposed sidefacing up.  
3. Depress PAUSE button.

5. Select yourdesired program bysetting FUNCTION selector(1) and playthe  
program.  
6. To start recording, press PAUSEbutton again.  
PAUSE  
This disc can be paused at any time during play by pressing the PLAY/PAUSE  
button once. The PAUSE indicator will flash. Press the PLAY/PAUSE  
again to continue.  
7. To stop recording, press STOP/EJECT button.

the next track. Continue to press this button to skip forward to higher numbered  
tracks until youreach the desiredtrack.

Connect the stereo headphones to the 3.5mm PHONES jack located at left top panel  
for private listening. When the headphones are connected, the sound from the  
speakers will automatically cut off. Before putting the headphones on your head,  
reduce the volume to a low level. Then putthe headphones on and gradually increase  
the volume to a comfortable listening level.  
. Press theSkip/Search  
button onceduring playback to skip to the beginning  
of the currenttrack. Press twiceto skip backto the beginning of the previous track.  
Continue to press this button to skip backward to lower numbered tracks until  
you reach thedesired track.

you wish tobypass or tohear again.  
Programmed Playback

The CD Player in this unit has a 32 track programmable memory which allows you  
to program up to 32 tracks on any disc for playback in any desired order. To program  
tracks for playback the player must be in the Stop mode. If the disc is playing, press  
the Stop button to stop playback and then proceed as follows:  
NOTE: Tobegin playback ofa disc on a specific track, wait until the player reads  
the disc anddisplays the totaltrack number, then press theSkip/Search or  
buttons repeatedly untilthe desired tracknumber is on the display. Press the  
button to beginplayback on thattrack.  
Repeat Playback  
(1) Press the PROGRAM button once. The PROG.  
(Program) indicator begins flashing in the display  
This function allows you to repeateither a singletrack or theentire disc continuously.

and the 01 appears indicating that you should  
select the track that you wish to enter into program  
memory number 1.  
. To repeata single track- Select the track you wishto repeat and begin playback  
on that track. Then press theREPEAT button once. TheREPEAT indicator appears  
in the displayand the selectedtrack will berepeated continuously untilyou cancel  
the repeat functionor press theStop  
button.  
.To repeatthe entire disc- Press theREPEAT button until theREPEAT“ and “ ALL “  
indicators appear in the display, then press the  
necessary. The entire discwill be repeatedcontinuously.

longer appears inthe display.Repeat can alsobe cancelled by pressing the Stop  
button, opening theCD door, or switching the FUNCTION Selector to TAPE  
(OFF).

(4) Repeat steps (2.) And (3.) Until you have programmed up to a maximum of 32 tracks  
into the program memory.  
(5) To begin Programmed Playback press the

button. The PROGIndicator stops flashing  
and remains On . The player will begin to play the tracks in the order that you selected.

Dynamic Bass Boost System (DBBS)  
This special circuit provides bass response, especially at lower volume levels  
where the bass has a tendency to disappear. Set the DBBS button to ‘ On ‘  
to increase the bass. Set the DBBS button to ‘ Off ‘  
for normal bass response.  
Note: If you have the DBBS circuit On at high volume and you are listening to  
music that contains very strong bass, you may experience some distortion. If  
this occurs, reduce the volume or switch the DBBS button Off

SAFEGUARD AGAINST ACCIDENTAL ERASURE  
Caring for CompactDiscs  
When a new recording is make, any program  
material previously recorded is automatically  
erased and only the new recording remains. To  
safeguard valuable recordingsfrom being erased  
accidentally, the cassette and the deck are  
equipped with aspacial device.  
* Treatthe disc carefully. Handle thedisc only byits edges.  
Never allow yourfingers to comein contact withthe shiny,  
unprinted side ofthe disc.  
* Do notattach adhesive tape, stickers, etc. To the disclabel.  
* Clean thedisc periodically witha soft , lint-free, dry cloth.  
Never use detergentsor abrasive cleanersto clean thedisc.  
If necessary,use a CDcleaning kit.

* If adisc skips orgets stuck ona section ofthe disc, itis probably dirtyor damaged(scratched).  
When cleaning thedisc, wipe instraight lines fromthe center ofthe center ofthe center ofthe disc tothe  
outer edge ofthe disc. Neverwipe in circularmotions.

On the back of the cassette there is an erase  
prevention tab on each side. To prevent  
accidental erasing, break out these tabs wish  
a screwdriver. If only one side of the tape is to  
be protected break out the tab on the left side  
with the sidedesired facing you.

* Compact Discshould be storedin their casesafter each useto avoid damage.  
* Do notexpose compact discto direct sunlight, high humidity,high temperatures, ordust, etc. Prolonged  
exposure or extremetemperatures can warpthe disc.

* Do notstick or writeanything on eitherside of thedisc. Sharp writinginstruments, or theink may  
damage the surface.  
Cleaning the unit  
* To prevent fireor shock hazard, disconnect your unitfrom theAC power sourcewhen cleaning.  
* The finishon your unitmay be cleanedwith a dustcloth and caredfor as otherfurniture. Use caution  
when cleaning andwiping the plasticparts.  
CASSETTE TAPERECOMMENDATIONS  
Standard tape lengthshave 15 (C-30),30(C-60) and 45(C-90) minutes ofrecording time oneach side.  
Longer length tapesof 60 (C-120)minutes of recordingtime on eachside are not recommended. Use  
only high qualitytapes. If aproblem develops, checkthe unit firstwith another cassetteto determine if  
the problem iswith the cassette, and not withthe unit.  
* Mild soapand a dampcloth may beused on thefront panel.  
* Periodic cleaningof the tapeheads, capstan andpinch roller isnecessary to maintaingood sound  
reproduction. Clean themafter every 100hoursof use orless if playbackhas deteriorated. Usea cotton  
swab moistened withhead cleaning solutionor isopropyl alcohol, then wipe drywith another swab.  
If there isany stack inthe tape inthe cassette, itshould be removedbefore inserting thecassette. Place  
a pencil inone of thehubs and rotatetoward the outsideof the cassetteuntil all stackis taken up.
