Bedienungsanleitung
1.1
Funktionsbeschreibung
Der Compur Gasgenerator ermöglicht die Überprüfung von Gasdetektoren. Das Gerät ist mit
einer gasspezifischen Generatorzelle bestückt. Je nach Gasart wird entweder elektrochemisch
erzeugten Gas wird der Gasdetektor auf sicheres Ansprechen getestet. Der Gasgenerator ist
nicht geeignet, ein Prüfgas definierter Konzentration zu erzeugen. Er dient also nicht zur
Kalibration eines Detektors.
1.2
Testablauf
• Zum Testen wird der Gasdetektor mit dem Sensor auf den Adapter des Gasgenerators
aufgesetzt.
• Beim Herunterdrücken wird automatisch der Gasgenerator angeschaltet und erzeugt nun
das Testgas. Zum Testen der Compur Gasdetektoren Monitox plus bzw. Dositox ist bei
jedem Gasgenerator ein Verlängerungsstück für den Schaltstift aufgesteckt.
Monitox S/SD und Minitox Detektoren werden ohne Verlängerungsstück getestet. Bei
Fremdfabrikaten ist jeweils zu prüfen, welcher Stift am besten passt.
• Der Gasgenerator erzeugt 10 Sekunden lang Gas. Dabei leuchtet die grüne LED auf.
Leuchtet die rote LED, muß die Batterie des Gasgenerators gewechselt werden.
Hinweis:
) Die Generatorzelle kann bei geringer Luftfeuchtigkeit austrocknen. Verschließen Sie
deshalb den Generator mit der mitgelieferten Feuchthaltekappe. Achten Sie darauf, dass
der Schwamm in der Kappe stets feucht, aber nicht naß gehalten wird.
Der Compur Gasgenerator darf nicht im explosionsgefährdeten
Bereich benutzt oder abgestellt werden.

Wartung
Sollte eine Störung an Ihrem Gasgenerator auftreten, so wenden Sie sich bitte an den Compur
Monitors Kundendienst in München oder an Ihren lokalen Repräsentanten. Kleinere
Wartungsarbeiten wie den Batteriewechsel oder Austausch der Generatorzelle können Sie
selbst vornehmen.
Beachten Sie bitte dazu folgende Hinweise:
) Führen Sie die Arbeiten möglichst auf einer leitfähigen, geerdeten Arbeitsmatte aus.
) Tragen sie möglichst ein leitfähiges Masseband (Armband, verbunden mit der
Arbeitsmatte).
2.1
Batteriewechsel
Leuchtet die rote LED am Gasgenerator auf, muß die Batterie gewechselt werden.
Interne Stromversorgung (9V Block-Batterie)
1 Lösen Sie die vier Schrauben an der Rückseite des Gerätes.
2 Wenden Sie das Gerät und heben Sie das Gerätevorderteil vorsichtig ab.
3 Entfernen sie die alte Batterie aus der Halterung.
4 Setzen Sie die neue Batterie ein.
5 Setzen Sie das Gerätevorderteil wieder auf und schrauben Sie es fest.
Externe Stromversorgung (Batteriebehälter) – nur bei COCl2
1 Entfernen Sie die Steckverbindung zum Gasgenerator und lösen Sie die vier Schrauben an
der Rückseite des Batteriebehälters.
2 Öffnen Sie den Behälter und entnehmen Sie die alten Batterien.
3 Setzen Sie einen neuen Batteriesatz (4 x 1,5 V Mono-Zellen, wir empfehlen Varta High
Energy Alkaline oder Duracell Ultra M3) ein und schrauben Sie den Behälter wieder zu.

2.2
Austausch der Generatorzelle
Die Lebensdauer der Generatorzelle beträgt ca. ein Jahr bzw. 2.500 Tests. Danach sollte sie
ausgetauscht werden. Die Generatorzelle sollte auch in jedem Fall getauscht werden, wenn
ein nachweislich intakter Gasdetektor beim Funktionstest nicht mehr anspricht.
2.2.1
H2S und HCN Generator (siehe Abbildung 1)
1 Lösen Sie die vier Schrauben an der Rückseite des Gerätes und heben Sie das
Gerätevorderteil ab.
2 Entnehmen Sie die Batterie.
3 Löten Sie die zwei Anschlüsse der alten Generatorzelle ab und ziehen Sie den Schlauch
von der Pumpe ab.
4 Lösen Sie die vier Befestigungsschrauben der Leiterplatte und entnehmen Sie die
Leiterplatte.
5 Lösen Sie die drei Befestigungsschrauben der Generatorzelle und ziehen Sie diese nach
vorne heraus. Nehmen Sie die neue Generatorzelle aus der Verpackung und befestigen Sie
die neue Generatorzelle mit den Befestigungsschrauben.
6 Bauen Sie die Leiterplatte wieder ein und schrauben Sie sie fest. Bitte achten Sie darauf,
dass der Schaltstift den Schalter auf der Leiterplatte sicher betätigt.
7 Schließen Sie die Batterie wieder an und legen Sie sie in das dafür vorgesehene Fach ein.
8 Führen Sie gegebenenfalls einen Abgleich des Generatorstroms durch.

Amperometer an Pin 4 (mittlerer Pin) und Pin 7 (linker Pin) anschließen.
Schalter S101 drücken und gleichzeitig mit Poti R114 den Generatorstrom einstellen:
H2S = 3,5 mA; HCN 100 ppm = 0,7 mA; HCN 20 ppm = 0,35 mA
9 Löten Sie die Kabel der Generatorzelle fest:

schwarzes Kabel an Pin 4 (mittlerer Pin)
gelbes Kabel an Pin 7 (linker Pin)
und stecken Sie den Schlauch auf den Stutzen der Pumpe, der mit „out“ gekennzeichnet
ist.
10 Setzen Sie das Gerätevorderteil wieder auf und schrauben Sie es fest.
Hinweis:
) Führen Sie mit einem funktionsfähigen Gasdetektor den Funktionstest durch.
Nach spätestens 10 Sekunden muß der Detektor in den Alarmzustand gehen.

CO, Cl2 und NO2 Generator (siehe Abbildung 2)
Diese Generatorzellen enthalten einen Lüfter, der fest mit der Generatorzelle verbunden ist.
Beim Austausch verfahren Sie wie folgt:
1 Lösen Sie die vier Schrauben an der Rückseite des Gerätes und heben Sie das
Gerätevorderteil ab.
2 Entnehmen Sie die Batterie.
3 Löten Sie die drei Anschlüsse der alten Generatorzelle ab.
4 Lösen Sie die vier Befestigungsschrauben der Leiterplatte und entnehmen Sie die
Leiterplatte.
5 Lösen Sie die drei Befestigungsschrauben der Generatorzelle und ziehen Sie diese nach
vorne heraus. Nehmen Sie die neue Generatorzelle aus der Verpackung und befestigen
Sie die neue Generatorzelle mit den Befestigungsschrauben.
6 Bauen Sie die Leiterplatte wieder ein und schrauben Sie sie fest. Bitte achten Sie darauf,
dass der Schaltstift den Schalter auf der Leiterplatte sicher betätigt.
7 Schließen Sie die Batterie wieder an und legen Sie sie in das dafür vorgesehene Fach ein.
8 Führen Sie gegebenenfalls einen Abgleich des Generatorstroms durch.

) Führen Sie mit einem funktionsfähigen Gasdetektor den Funktionstest durch.
Nach spätestens 10 Sekunden muß der Detektor in den Alarmzustand gehen.

COCl2 und SO2 Generator (siehe Abbildung 3)
1 Stecken Sie den externen Batteriebehälter aus (nur bei COCl2).
2 Lösen Sie die vier Schrauben an der Rückseite des Gerätes und heben Sie das
Gerätevorderteil ab.
3 Entnehmen Sie die Batterie.
4 Schieben Sie die beiden Isolierschläuche zurück und löten Sie die Anschlussdrähte der
Generatorzelle von den Litzen.
5 Schrauben Sie das Klemmstück (KS) ab und schieben Sie die Generatorzelle rückwärts
heraus.
6 Führen Sie die neue Generatorzelle vorsichtig in die Adapterkappe ein und schrauben Sie
das Klemmstück fest.
7 Löten Sie die Drähte der neuen Zelle an (Polung beliebig) und schieben Sie die
Isolierschläuche über die Lötstellen.
8 Setzen Sie die Batterie wieder ein.
9 Setzen Sie das Gerätevorderteil wieder auf und schrauben Sie es fest. Stecken Sie den
Batteriebehälter wieder ein.
Hinweis:
) Führen Sie mit einem funktionsfähigen Gasdetektor den Funktionstest durch.
Nach spätestens 10 Sekunden muß der Detektor in den Alarmzustand gehen.

Operating Instructions
3.1
Principle of Operation
The Compur gas generator is a device to check the proper function of gas detectors. The
instrument contains a gas specific generator cell. Depending on the type of gas, the generator
The response of a gas detector can be checked with the small gas concentration produced by
the gas generator. However, since the gas generator does not produce a certifiable known gas
concentration, it is not suitable for detector calibration.
3.2
How To Run a Gas Test
• Insert the sensor of the gas detector into the adapter of the gas generator.
• When the detector is pressed down, the generation of gas starts automatically. If you want
to test the Compur Monitors gas detectors Monitox plus or Dositox, please use the switch
pin extension included with the generator. Compur gas detectors Monitox S/SD and
Minitox are tested without extension. If you want to check gas detectors of other
manufacturers, please check whether it works with or without the switch pin extension.
• The gas generator will produce gas for a period of 10 seconds. During gas generation, the
green LED will turn on. If the red LED illuminates, the battery needs replacement.
Note:
) If the generator cell is exposed to low humidity, it may dry out. Therefore, please cover the
generator with the included humidity cap. Make sure the sponge inside the cap is always
moist, but not dripping wet.
Do not store or use a Compur gas generator in classified areas.

Maintenance
In service is needed, please contact Compur Monitors Service in Munich or your local
representative. Minor maintenance work such as battery replacement, or generator cell
exchange, can be performed by observing the following instructions.
Please observe the following notes:
) Use a grounded conductive pad.
) Wear a conductive wrist strap connected to your work pad.
4.1
Battery Replacement
If the red LED turns on, the battery needs replacement.
Internal battery (9V battery)
1 Remove the four screws on the backside of the instrument.
2 Separate the top and bottom halves of the generator housing. (Use caution as the LED
wires are attached to the top case)
3 Remove the old battery.
4 Insert the new battery.
5 Attach the top cover and tighten the screws.
External battery pack (COCl2 only)
1 Unplug the battery pack from the gas generator and remove the four screws on its
backside.
2 Open the battery pack and remove the old batteries.
3 Insert the new batteries (4x1,5 V size C), close the battery pack and tighten the screws.
) For the 1.5 V size C batteries, it is recommended to only use Duracell Ultra M3 or Varta
High Efficiency Alkaline. Use of other batteries may cause flashing of the battery LED
during a gas test.

4.2
Generator Cell Replacement
The generator cell has an approximate life time of 1 year or 2,500 tests. After this time it
needs replacement. It also needs replacement, if a gas detector known to be good does not
respond to a gas test.
4.2.1
H2S and HCN Generator (see Picture 1)
1 Loosen the 4 screws on the backside of the instrument and separate the two halves. (Use
caution as the LED’s are attached to the top case)
2 Remove the battery.
3 Unsolder the 2 wires from the old generator cell and remove the tubing from the pump.
4 Unsrew the 4 screws securing the PCB and remove the PCB.
5 Unscrew the 3 screws of the generator cell, which secure it to the bottom case, and
remove the old generator cell. Insert the new generator cell and tighten the 3 screws.
6 Reinsert the PCB and tighten the screws. Please make sure that the switch pin has not
moved and that it easily activates the switch on the PCB.
7 Reconnect the battery.
8 If required, adjust the generator current to the following specifications:

Connect current meter to PCB pin 4 (center pin) and pin 7 (left pin).
Press switch S101 and adjust generator current with potentiometer R114 to the
applicable current:
H2S = 3,5 mA; HCN 100 ppm = 0,7 mA; HCN 20 ppm = 0,35 mA
9 Solder the wires of the generator cell to the PCB pins:

black cable to pin 4 (center pin)
yellow cable to pin 7 (left pin)
Connect the tubing to the pump port marked “out”.
10 Close the housing of the generator and tighten the 4 screws in the back.
Note:
) Whenever you have done maintenance work on a gas generator, test the function with a
working gas detector. The detector should give an alarm within 10 seconds.

4.2.2
CO, Cl2 and NO2 Generator (see Picture 2)
The CO, Cl2 and NO2 generator cells contain an internal fan. When replacing, please proceed
as follows:
1 Loosen the 4 screws on the backside of the instrument and seperate the two halves. (Use
caution as the LED’s are attached to the top case)
2 Remove the battery.
3 Unsolder the 3 wires from the old generator cell.
4 Unscrew the 4 screws securing the PCB and remove the PCB.
5 Unscrew the 3 screws of the generator cell , which secure it to the bottom case, and
remove the old generator cell. Insert the new generator cell and tighten the 3 screws.
6 Reinsert the PCB and tighten the screws. Please make sure that the switch pin has not
moved and that it easily activates the switch on the PCB.
7 Reconnect the battery.
8 If required, readjust the generator current to the following specifications:

Connect current meter to PCB pin 4 (center pin) and pin 7 (left pin).
Press switch S101 and adjust generator current with potentiometer R114 to the
applicable current:
CO = 13 mA; Cl2 = 0,3 mA; NO2 = 5 mA
9 Solder the wires of the generator cell and the fan to the PCB pins:

black cable to pin 4 (center pin)
yellow cable to pin 7 (left pin)
red cable to pin 3 (right pin)
10 Close the housing of the generator and tighten the screws in the back.

4.2.3
COCl2 and SO2 Generator (see Picture 3)
1 Unplug the external battery (COCl2 only).
2 Loosen the 4 screws on the backside of the instrument and separate the two halves. (Use
caution as the LED’s are attached to the top case)
3 Remove the battery.
4 Push back the 2 isolation tubes and unsolder the generator cell from the wires.
5 Unscrew the clamp (KS) and push the generator cell backwards. Remove old generator
cell.
6 Insert the new generator cell and fasten the clamp.
7 Solder the wires to the new generator cell (polarity of no importance) and push the
isolation tubes back over the connections.
8 Insert the battery.
9 Close the housing and tighten the screws in the back. Reconnect the external battery pack.
Note:
) Whenever you have done maintenance work on a gas generator, test the function with a
working gas detector. The detector should give an alarm within 10 seconds.
