Driver Installation
1. Insert the FireWire 800 ExpressCard Adapter installation
CD into your CD-ROM drive. After a few moments, the
main menu automatically starts. Note: If the main CD does
not begin automatically, click the “Start” button and select
“Run”. From the “Run” dialog box, enter “<drive>:\setup_
xp2.exe” and click “OK” (where “<drive>” represents the
driver letter that identifies your CD-ROM drive under “My
Computer”—e.g., if the CD is in drive D, enter “D:\setup_
xp2.exe”).

2. Locate your notebook’s ExpressCard slot(s). With your
notebook on, slide the ExpressCard Adapter into the
unused 34mm or 54mm ExpressCard slot.
Note: Do not plug any devices into the ExpressCard
Adapter until you have completely finished the
driver installation.
3. Select “FireWire 800 Driver”. The Software Installation
Wizard appears and begins to download the drivers. If
the following “Software Installation” prompt appears, click
“Continue Anyway” to complete the installation process.

4. After the files successfully copy over, verify that the
correct driver has been installed on your computer, as
described below under “Verifying Proper Installation”.
5. Installation is now complete and the ExpressCard Adapter

Check the “Windows Device Manager” to confirm that your
ExpressCard Adapter has been
properly installed.

1. Right-click on “My Computer” and
select “Manage”.
2. Select the “Device Manager” tab.
3. Click the (+) sign next to “IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers”.
The “IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers” will now include one
entry that reads “OHCI IEEE 1394b Host Controller”.

Troubleshooting
The ExpressCard Adapter and devices connected to the
computer do not work properly.

Please do the following:
1. Check that all the cables you are using are the correct
types, and that they are all securely connected.
2. Make sure all devices are powered on and connected to
the proper power supply and source.
3. Reconnect daisy-chained devices you may have
disconnected for installation. If reconnecting does not
clear up the problem, restart your computer.
4. Make sure you have properly installed
the ExpressCard Adapter.
The computer did not detect the
ExpressCard Adapter.
1. Make sure that the ExpressCard Adapter is correctly
plugged into the ExpressCard 34/54mm slot; if not, plug
in it securely.
2. If the ExpressCard Adapter is plugged in correctly, see if
its gold connectors are clean; if not, clean the connector
surface.
3. Follow the procedure on page 6 titled “Verifying Proper
Installation”. If the ExpressCard designation “OHCI IEEE
1394b Host Controller” does not appear in the Device
Manager, update your computer BIOS to the latest
version (contact your computer manufacturer for details).
If after updating your BIOS your computer still does not
detect the ExpressCard Adapter, contact your computer
manufacturer for advanced support for BIOS.

90220, Attn: Customer Service, or call (800)-223-5546, within 15 days
of the Occurrence. Be prepared to provide the following information:
a. The part number of the Belkin product.
b. Where you purchased the product.
c. When you purchased the product.
d. Copy of original receipt.
2. Your Belkin Customer Service Representative will then instruct you on
how to forward your receipt and Belkin product and how to proceed with
your claim.
Belkin International, Inc., reserves the right to review the damaged Belkin
product. All costs of shipping the Belkin product to Belkin International, Inc.,
for inspection shall be borne solely by the purchaser. If Belkin determines, in its
sole discretion, that it is impractical to ship the damaged equipment to Belkin

Veuillez suivre la procédure suivante :
1. Vérifiez que tous les câbles utilisés sont du bon type et
qu’ils sont bien connectés.
2. Assurez-vous que tous les périphériques sont mis sous
tension et connectés au bon bloc et à la bonne source
d’alimentation.
3. Reconnectez les périphériques en série que vous
pouvez avoir déconnecté au cours de l’installation. Si
la reconnexion ne résout pas le problème, redémarrez
l’ordinateur.
4. Assurez-vous que vous avez installé l’adaptateur
ExpressCard correctement.
L’ordinateur n’a pas détecté l’adaptateur ExpressCard.
1. Assurez-vous que l’adaptateur ExpressCard est
correctement enfiché dans la fente ExpressCard de 34 ou
de 54 mm; sin non, bien l’enficher.
2. SI l’adaptateur ExpressCard est enfiché correctement,
voir si les connecteurs or sont propres; si non, nettoyez
la surface des connecteurs.
3. Suivez la procédure intitulée « Vérification de
l’installation » à la page 6. Si la désignation ExpressCard
« OHCI IEEE 1394b Host Controller » (Contrôleur hôte
OHCI IEEE 1394b) ne s’affiche pas dans le Device
Manager (Gestionnaire de périphériques), mettre à jour le
BIOS de l’ordinateur à la version la plus récente (prendre

Instalación del controlador
1. Inserte el CD de instalación del adaptador ExpressCard
FireWire 800 en la unidad de CD-ROM. Después de unos
momentos se iniciará automáticamente el menú principal.
Nota: Si el CD principal no se inicia automáticamente,
pulse en el botón “Start” (Inicio) y seleccione “Run”
(Correr). Desde el cuadro de diálogo “Run” (Correr),
escriba “<unidad>:\setup_xp2.exe” y pulse en “OK”
[donde “<unidad>“ representa la letra de la unidad que
identifica a su unidad de CD-ROM bajo “My Computer”
(Mi Computadora). Por ej., si el CD está en la unidad D,
escriba “D:\setup_xp2.exe”].

2. Localice la(s) ranura(s) para el ExpressCard en su
computadora portátil. Con su computadora portátil
encendida, deslice el adaptador ExpressCard en una
ranura libre ExpressCard de 34 mm ó 54 mm.
Nota: No conecte ningún dispositivo al adaptador
ExpressCard hasta que haya terminado por completo la
instalación del controlador.
3. Seleccione “FireWire 800 Driver” (Controlador del
FireWire 800). El Asistente de instalación del software
aparece y comienza a descargar los controladores. Si
aparece el mensaje “Software Installation” (Instalación
del software), pulse en “Continue Anyway” (Continuar
de cualquier manera) para completar el proceso de
instalación.

seleccione “Manage” (Administrar).
2. Seleccione la ficha “Device Manager” (Administrador de

3. Pulse en el símbolo de más (+) junto a “IEEE 1394 Bus

Los “IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers” (controladores de

La computadora no detectó el adaptador ExpressCard.
1. Asegúrese de que el adaptador ExpressCard esté
conectado correctamente en la ranura ExpressCard de
34 ó 54 mm; si no lo está, conéctelo con firmeza.
2. Si el adaptador ExpressCard está conectado
correctamente, verifique si sus conectores dorados están
limpios; si no lo están, limpie la superficie del conector.
